Totopia is a bakery that targets kids as their audience. The concept behind the branding is fun and whimsical. The typography was designed to reflect the brand's exciting characteristic, while the characters reflect it's imaginative side. In order to appeal to the young audience, two characters were developed, Fayoona & Abood.
Fouz is an 8 year old Kuwaiti girl that is clever, curious and confident who simply loves to learn. She is the leader of the two and whose curiosity is heightened by reality. Fouz is unusual, creative and a thinker that loves to read, solve riddles and astronomy. She also enjoys baking, music, origami and optical illusions. Fayoona is ambitious and articulate, and all her traits complement the contrasting personality of her brother, Abood. Throughout the brand, Fouz is illustrated in ways that expresses who she is, a thinker, an explorer and a leader.
Abood, age 4 3/4, is the bolder out of the two. He is competitive, talkative, imaginative and fascinated. He questions everything and looks to his sister, Fayoona, to quench his inquisitive nature. Abood’s curiosity is fueled by his loud imagination. This adventurer loves animals, sports, baking and putting things together with his hands. He is easily amused and has a playful and energetic nature. Abood, the adventurer, energetic and playful one of the two, is always illustrated in a way that shows his character traits in Totopia.
When placed together, Fouz is seen in her role as a leader while Abood is expressing himself as an energetic little brother.
